Getting here by train...
Rutgers University can also be easily accessed by train from Philadelphia, New York and many places in between on New Jersey Transit. From New York take the North East Corridor line to New Brunswick. From Philadelphia take the R7 SEPTA Line and transfer at Trenton Station. Depart the train at the New Brunswick station.
Cooper Green is about a 10 minute walk from the train station.
When exiting the train station, find the corner of George Street and Albany. Continue on George Street, crossing Albany. Continue through downtown New Brunswick. About half a mile past downtown you will come to the corner of George and Nichol. This is Cooper Green.
You can also take a free Rutgers EE bus. The bus picks up at the train station and travels along George Street. Exit at Douglass College.
Getting here by car...
Rutgers University is located near several major highways:
From New Jersey Turnpike (North or South)
Take Exit 9. After toll booths bear to the right towards "Route 18 North - New Brunswick." Continue past the Route 1 exits, staying on Route 18 North. After passing through one light (Paulus Blvd), watch for the George Street exit on the right. Take this exit and follow the curving road. You will pass through one traffic light. Continue around the curve. The next traffic light is Nichol Ave and George St. Cooper Green is at this corner. Turn left on Nichol. Turn left at the next street, Lipman Drive. Pull into the parking lot (behind Douglass College Center.)
From Garden State Parkway
Take Exit 129 for the New Jersey Turnpike and head south. Follow the directions above starting with New Jersey Turnpike.
From Route 287
Take Exit 9 "River Road, Bound Brook, Highland Park". Proceed east on River Road toward Highland Park until you reach the fifth traffic light (approximately 3.4 miles) at the intersection of River Road, Metlars Lane and Route 18. Turn right onto Route 18 and cross the Raritan River on the John Lynch Memorial Bridge. Watch for a Gulf gas station on the right. Turn right here on Commercial Ave. At the top of the hill, turn left at the light onto George Street. The next light will be Nichol Ave. Cooper Green is at this corner. Turn right on Nichol. Turn left at the next street, Lipman Drive. Pull into the parking lot (behind Douglass College Center.)
