Getting here by air...
While there are several area airports (including JFK, LaGuardia, and even Philadelphia International), by far the closest and most convenient is Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in nearby Newark, NJ. From Newark International Airport, the AirTrain runs directly to New Brunswick several times hourly; the trip takes about 25 minutes. If you are renting a car, see directions by car below.
Getting here by train...
Rutgers University can also be easily accessed by train from Philadelphia, New York and many places in between on New Jersey Transit. From New York take the North East Corridor line to New Brunswick. From Philadelphia take the R7 SEPTA Line and transfer at Trenton Station. Depart the train at the New Brunswick station.
From the New Brunswick train station, you may take a taxi to the Ramada. Look for Victory Cab or Yellow Cab. Ask the driver to take you to the Ramada at 999 Route 1 South.
You can also take the NJ Transit bus 814 to the Ramada. The fare is $1.10 (exact change). Catch the bus at Somerset & George Streets, which can be located at the foot of the staircase on the southbound side (Trenton side) when exiting the train station. Take bus 814 to the Fashion Plaza stop, dropping off at Wal-Mart. From the Wal-Mart, walk across the parking lot away from the Wal-Mart. You should see a TGIFriday's restaurant. The Ramada is just beyond that.
For your convenience, please print out the bus schedule found here. (Note: this is a PDF file, requiring Adobe Acrobat.) Choose your start time from the New Brunswick Somerset & George Streets column, and make sure that there is a drop off at North Brunswick Fashion Plaza. (Not all times travel to Fashion Plaza.) The ideal times to catch the 814 from New Brunswick on Friday evening are 4:00, 4:24, 5:24 and 6:24. The ideal bus to catch on Saturday morning is the 9:00 a.m. pick up.
